Peformance idea

I have always loved this scene from Romeo and Juliet, and had alwqys thought how I could encorporate this type of clip into my music video.
I was watching a couple music videos of the Melophobia albumn from Cage The Elephant. Whilst listening to Shake Me Down, I came across this section where Matt Shultz is singing towards the camera under the sheets. It gives it an almost secrative feel, as if it shouldnt be happening.

I would most liekly like the encorporate this into my music video. I was struggerling how to encorporate peformance into my vidoe, and think this may be the way.

Character 2 costume

Character 2 : Joy Lane

Character 1 Costume

Luna Govern Costume
I wanted to give an aneglic, pixie like feel to this characters costume. I want the overall image of my music video to be asthetically pleasing with nice cinematography; because of this I want everything to be pleasing and have meaning.
Because Luna is searching for love within herself I want a very gentle colour scheme.
  • Pink
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Purple
  • Glitter
It is unclear in the image but the long dress is a sheer mesh material which changes colour depending on where the light is shining on it. It can give off the impression of a green, red or purple colour. It also has scale like patterens sewn into it which gives it mythical feel. For her makeup I wanted to stay with the delicate touch. Pink blush on the cheeks and a pink sheen eye. Minimal yet beautiful. I would also like to add a sheen glitter to her cheek bones which gives her that pixie feel.

What I did today...

In todays lesson I was able to upload all of the clips I have so far filmed onto my computer. I decided to start doing editing.
This was to experiment how to use adobe and get used to it a little more before I started really editting my music video.
I had a look at changing the colours and highlights of the video to give it a nice colourwash effect.

Pitch

For my Pitch I had just presented my basic ideas and narrative to the class. I played the song Like Water, my chosen record for my music video, in the background so they could get the jist of the vibe I was aiming for. After explaining my narrative I asked the class the following questions.

1) Would you enjoy watching the narrative?
The bar chart to the left shows that everyperson in the class said they would enjoy my narrative. This is very positive feed back and gives me lots and enthusiasm to take the narrative ahead.

2) Do you like the song?
This Pie chart demonstrates the song
is liked by the majority of the people in the class I did my pitch to. A few people said they liked the song but it wasent particulary for them and only 1 person said they didnt like it. I think this inforamtion is valuable because it shows that my target audience with be narrower than every young person ever. I like this as I am able to create a more atmospherical music video which will enlighten my specific target audeince.

3) Do you think the song has the right vibe for my narrative?

The information I gained back from this I found very interesting. Although 4/10 did not particuarly enjoy the song... they all said it was perfect for the narrative of my video. This makes me really happy and confident in my choice of song. I think it is going to work really effectively and will create the exact atmosphere I am looking for.

4) Any ideas for what I could put in my video?
The result to this question was very minimal. Next to no one has a respond for me. One girl then said that a really cool aspect I could add to the music video would be colourfull smoke flares.  I loved this idea and would love to either encorporate this into my music video or in the Digipak.

MY STARS

Conection between characters & basic narrative of music video
The two girls met when they were much younger. They grew up as bestfriends. One thing lead to another and they dicoverd the love they had for each other was much deeper. This was dissagreed by their parents / guardian and they were not allowed to see each other. Apart they struggle to cope by themselfs and finally come back together, embracing each other.

Rachel Pride
Character

Age: 18
Background: Her parents are divorced. She currently lives with her mum who is verbally abusive. Her Farther married off and moved countires.
Luna struggles with self love and in attempt of moving on she shaves her hair to find beauty and love herself for who she is.

Why this actress is good for the role: I trust Rachel alot to peform this role to the best of her ability. I had previously taken some rough shots of her and decided it was best for her to take on this role.

Katie Garratt
Character
Name: Joy Lane
Age:18
Background: Joy grew up with a single mother. She loved Joy with every bone in her body. Her mother was diagnosed with cancer when Joy was 16, she died several month later...
Joy now leaves with her Grandmother. She lives in a complete different way and dosent agree with anything Joy does. To escape the pain of loosing her mother and not being allowed to see the girl she loves, Joy turns to a rebellious life of drugs, alcohol and sex.
Why this actress is good for this role: Katie has a detailed experince in drama, its a passion of her's. She took GCSE, A level and peformed in many productions. I trust her to take this serious role on and peforme it to the extent I desire.

Character
Name: Flume
I wanted this person to really fit the characterisation of Flume. In my version of this song, Flume is  female and sings in her songs, Rather than a male DJ, who ft female and male artists.
To fit the characterisations of a 'star' I wanted to give her an overall glammed up appearance.

Why this actress is good for the role:
I chose Fiona because I completely trust her to create an overall stardom appearance and performance. She has a very detailed background within the arts, doing music, drama and musical theatre. Her singing expertise will help whilst filming to create a very realistic effect.

Filming TimeTable

This is the basic filming time table which ill be sticking to as much as possible. Date may have to be changed acoording to availability.

Ive added another filming date for my peformance aspect of the music video... It's going to be on the 27th of Septemeber and it will be of myself lipsyncing to the camera.

Task 9- DigiPak pt 5

Powered by emaze

Task 6 magazine ad pt 5

What I have learnt
  • Use space to your advantage. If something is too busy then clear it out and simplify it. Remember, Less is more.
  • Have a bold background which contrast nicely against colour and shape of font.
  • Promote the album as much as possible.
  • Give reviews
  • Artist most important feature, Make that be what they see first of the written words.

Task 6 magazine ad pt 4

Task 6 magazine ad pt 3

I have decided that I want to use a rectangle shaped box to place the image of my magazine advert (148.5cm X 105cm.) This is the measurements of half of a typical A4 sheet of paper. This means my  magazine advert will take up half of the page in a magazine.

For this reason I have decided to do more research into magazine advert which resemble this size, to gain a clear objective of how they are presented with the stereotypical layout.

Task 9 Digi Pak pt 4

The DigiPak album art for Flume's album 'Skin' is very simplistic. Overall it gives off a very friendly and colour feel to it. On the cover it has very little to no text. We see 'Flume' in the top left hand corner and 'Skin' in the top right hand corner. This is shown is a block type sans-serif font. The demonstartes to the viewer that the titles of the artist and the album are not as important than the music. It also demonstated the artists want for the viewer to concentare on the design of the cover, this creativity could reprsents his music.

The colour scheme used within this album art is purple, violet, blue and pink. These calming colours tie in beautifully with the graphic design and completes the smoothness of the album overall. Throughout the album art works their is this continuous colour scheme. I think using the same colour scheme throughout is very effective way of making your product look professional. I think I will use this aspect within my work.

The tracklist is shown on the back cover of the DigiPak. This is a stereotypical convention of DigiPaks. As you can clearly see the colour scheme continues here pleasingly.  The soft gradient of the colour ombreing downwards really reflects the softness of the flower art work which is presented.
This is really reflective upon flume's music. Flume use alot of layering effects to create beats, builds and crescendo's. This is projected through the layering of flowers and nature and the natural beautiful element it has to it.

The back of the DigiPak also shows elements of extra information about record companies and a barcode.
