Digi pak first draft

I am really happy with the first draft of my DigiPak. I think it really fits well together and creates a good image I am aiming for with this artist.

Improvements. I dislike the left side of the disk panel. I feel like it sticks out in a bad way, the image itself isn't particularly flattering for the model/ actress and for my Digipak. I may shoot some more images or choose another image to work on. As this is the lyric page, I want something that isn't of the actress or maybe of the fairy lights used etc.

I love the extra panel slide (Bottom left corner), I feel it really captures the image I am aiming for. This and the front cover are my favourite panels. The colours all really tie in together and have a nice overall aesthetic.

Digi Pak side left and right of cd

I chose a track list and a lyrics page to use as the right and left panel next to the disk.

I am happy with the track list panel however I may make the grey background lighter.

Things to improve
  • move the track list to the back cover. I realised that most albums I have analysed place the track list on the back cover. So ill have to add a barcode and copyright information.
  • Change the image on the lyrics page. I don't want the Digi Pak images to relate to just one song of the album.
  • Replace left panel with a different image a write a 'thank you' message for the fans.
  • On the lyrics panel, use multiple lyrics of the album rather than the one song I have created a music video for. I need to make sure I am creating a Digi Pak for the album and not to support the music video I have made.

Digi Pak Cd first draft

I constructed the disk myself through glancing at a template and using that to construct it myself on Photoshop.

I like the uniqueness of this, however the swirly pattern is bothering me. It makes it look slightly unprofessional.

To do
  • I'm going to create some different patterns until I am happy with the pattern.
  • Get rid of the darker black tones used... To dark.

Digi Pak extra pannel first draft

For my extra panel I wanted to use an image which was a bit different from the other images I have used on the digi pak. My reasons for this is because its an extra panel so I wanted to provide almost an extra snippet about the music. So I added an image of the two actresses used within the music video.
original image
I began by playing around with the expose of the image. I wanted the sky to not be as dark. To do this I increased the exposure of the image and coloured in the sections of the sky. This gave me the brighter look I desired.
Next I wanted to white wall they were stood against to be a more crisp white, rather than the darker colour it is originally. I used exposure for this too.
To edit the vibrancy of the image, I wanted the jumper to be a more vibrant red and the dress to stand out more with the colours that are sewn into it. The increased the vibrancy and coloured in these sections.
For the text I used the same teal colour I have used throughout the Digi Pak process. To do this I used the eyedropper tool, so all the colours are the same. I found a font called 'Black listed' and wrote the name of the album, Skin. I wrote it in capital letters and moved it around until I found the perfect position. Right in the centre. I increased the font size to 100pt so it becomes straight away thhe first thing your eyes are drawn to.
Underneath in a smaller font called Paradox I wrote 'FLUME'

Digi Pak back cover first draft

I wanted something more simple to place on the back cover, as I think the front cover really steals the show.
I carried on with my colour scheme and chose this image.

As you can tell, this image has a really dark lighting. I began by increasing the exposure of the picture of creating a more teal vibrant colour on the background she is stood against. As you can see in the original image the background is quite a mid dark blue.
After this I tried to achieve the brightness of the vibrancy of the colour in her eye shadow but because of the original image I was able to do it to the extent which I had desired.
I increased the exposure within the fairy light, like on the front cover, to allow for a continuous effect.
I decided I wanted to put all of the business type information of the back cover, So here I placed a copy right logo and information. I made the copyright information the same soft pink used throughout to stand out against the teal and also continue with the colour scheme.
I also found barcode and placed this on.

Digipak Front cover first draft

I began by choosing a image which really reflected the music. I figured the easiest way to do this was to have an image of the star.
This is the image I chose.

I began by cutting it so it would fit the size of the Digi Pak. This is width: 13cm Height: 14.5cm.
I chose a colour scheme which I want to play with throughout my Digi Pak. This is a teal green/ blue and a soft pink. Using this idea I also want to incorporate this colour scheme into my music video, this may give it a more professional effect.

I started playing around with the exposure and vibrancy of the image. By doing this I was able to create a more vivid colour of the background. rather than a washed out blue it became a vibrant teal. This fits my ambiance more.

With the exposure I was able to make the fairy lights within the picture more vivid and noticeable, giving it almost a angelic feel. I also played around with her makeup and created a more softer pinki on the eyes to play along with the gentle feel.
For the font I went on to DaFont.com and found a Font called Paradox. I decided to use this as the iconic font for the album and artist.

Reviews of music video second draft

Ive asked people to watch the second draft of my music video and give me comments nd feedback so I can develop off it.

Olivia, 17 years old : "I like it alot. I think it's really cool and fits well for the song. Really like the dancing shots"
Initial ideas for improvement

colours & Lighting
  • experiment more with them...
  • flashing between the colours
  • 2x main colours work throughout the video
- pink and teal
- purple and yellow
- any complimentary colours
  •   Flash fade to white at the end from the colour... suggests content? happiness? heaven?
  • Brighten the begining... its too dark

music video Second Draft

I have re- editied my Music video. So far I am much more happier with what I have created.
  • I have changed the actress doing the peformacne in the video, to create a realistic effect she sang all of the lyrics.
  • Re editied some of the colours layered over the clips.

music video First Draft

My First Draft clearly shows that it is not complete. There are blank sections which will be filled as im in the process of doing more filming.

  • Change the colours: it looks slightly unprofessional with all the over layers.
  • R-e film peformance aspects with new actress
  • Film sections of Katie getting into the car.
  • Film extra shots

Editing/ Update

Recently I have began editing. I found that from doing this I have really seen my first draft comming together.
The editing has shown me that I've struggled to show the bright colours which i had originally intended on doing on all the clips. I found that it is all too much and can look exsessive. Instead I eant to take a simplicitic approach and begin with earthy tones and slowly progress to colour. This demonstates the progression of the video and their relationship.
I have completed a rough first draft. However, there are some blank spaces. These are done on purpose as their are still aspects I need to film/ Re- film.

On the 10th of October, I will be re-shooting the performance section of the music video. Originally I had filmed myself so I had footage to work with whilst editing. However, I have found the perfect actress for this role and will be filming her.
