Task 9 Digi Pak pt 4

The DigiPak album art for Flume's album 'Skin' is very simplistic. Overall it gives off a very friendly and colour feel to it. On the cover it has very little to no text. We see 'Flume' in the top left hand corner and 'Skin' in the top right hand corner. This is shown is a block type sans-serif font. The demonstartes to the viewer that the titles of the artist and the album are not as important than the music. It also demonstated the artists want for the viewer to concentare on the design of the cover, this creativity could reprsents his music.

The colour scheme used within this album art is purple, violet, blue and pink. These calming colours tie in beautifully with the graphic design and completes the smoothness of the album overall. Throughout the album art works their is this continuous colour scheme. I think using the same colour scheme throughout is very effective way of making your product look professional. I think I will use this aspect within my work.

The tracklist is shown on the back cover of the DigiPak. This is a stereotypical convention of DigiPaks. As you can clearly see the colour scheme continues here pleasingly.  The soft gradient of the colour ombreing downwards really reflects the softness of the flower art work which is presented.
This is really reflective upon flume's music. Flume use alot of layering effects to create beats, builds and crescendo's. This is projected through the layering of flowers and nature and the natural beautiful element it has to it.

The back of the DigiPak also shows elements of extra information about record companies and a barcode.

Task 9 Digi pak pt 3

Initially what draws your attention to this is the art work and the colour. The art work done on Grimes DigiPak is done by Grimes herself. I think this works really well at drawing the attention of someone and intriguing them. The daring art work is so abstract and unique, which represents her genre and the music she produces.
The colours that you notice are pink, mauve colour and this teal green colour. I really like the colour comparrisson done here, it is very soft and subtle. The way is stands out against the black and white complex imagery and background creates a really nice effect.

Composition
On the front cover there is the album cover art, title, name and some extra information. The way they have placed everything on this DigiPak is a little different to previous ones I have seen. The name of the artist and album are in a very small print in the top right hand corner. I really like this as it shows the importance of the album cover isnt her, but the art she creates. Her art is a visually representation of the music she creates, this speaks volumes about the album.
On the back cover there is some more of her visual art along with a barcode and

what have I learnt?
To really express who the artist is through their layout and packagaing of the DigiPak. Doing this will really relate to the genre of the music I have chosen to do. Electro dance conventions really aspire for the indiviual to really express themselfs through their music and the waythe present their music.

Task 9 Digi Pak pt 2

Cage The Elephant : Melophobia
Melophobia definition acctually means 'fear of music'. Calling their album this just gives it one massive twist, excatly fitting the theme of their music.
Cage The Elephant aree known for there trippy, crazy and experimental songs and music videos. For this spectacular albumn they had to create it along side the same atmosphere.
The album cover firsts has a black and white stripped background. It creates an 3D effect on the image, looking as it the top of the image is further behind the bottom an the lines get thinner and curves inwards.
The font is simple block letters, largely spaced apart. The have blased a letter on each stripe and coloured it white it black and black it on white. This makes it accessable to read but also looks really cool.
In the centre of the albumn cover is what resembles a head. It seems to be melting. I like the abstractness of this. Overall it reallu just ties in all of the aspects of the songs, creativiy and their personall weirdness.  The Cd shown on the inside is the colour yellow. I love this characteristic. I just adds that pop of colour.
Their track list is really intriguingwith the way it did the font of the song titles. It has a slight twist on the font that is shown on the album cover. I love the simplicity of it and yet it has such a cool overall look.
The letters are really spaced apart and look almost like chnild handwriting. The black and white ties in with the front of the digipak.

Task 9 Digi Pak pt 1

 What is a Digi Pak?
It is a type of CD/ DVD holder packaging to promote and sell a new product. It contains usually a wallet with extra information and an internal plastic section to hold the disk. It is also decorated to sell the product.

This album is by Foals called Total Life Forever. Their genre of music is Alternative rock and Dance punk. The dance aspect ties in with the genre of music I am choosing.
This album was relased may 10th 2010 with Trangressive Records. Trangressive Records also had Flume signed to them for a while. Flume is the artist I am going forward with.

Foals have their own specific sound. It has a real wavy vibe. I like the front cover of this album as it really represnts the music they play. They have a very calming affect. One of their most well known song of this album is Spanish Sahara. This song is very powerfull yet relaxing, Exactly how this albumn cover is relased. The calmness of the blue creates this affect. We can see the sun shining through the water to light them up.

It also has that alternative dark twist of the band members in the water. Are they drowning? whats happening?
This dark twist is also reflected through their
music.

The track list shows the listeners all of the songs on the list.
It is very asthetically pleasing to look at with the organised lines. They put their original spin on them by using roman numerals.
It clearly states the difference between the two sides of the disk showing th eoriginal songs and the extra.
It doesn't show anyway a parental advisory, so this states that their music is advisorsable for the younger generation.
And to top it all off they matched their CD to the theme of the rest of thei albumn and music. They created a marbel/ water affect over the CD. I really like this idea and it just completes the project and ties it all together.
